Default Upcoming GW:B Work

This was already posted on GW2Guru, but I figured it should be over here too (since this forum is about the actual game).

In a recent interview with John Stumme, he alluded to the following things for GW:B...

Quote:
  • We'll be visiting Cantha after Keiran+Gwen is resolved. September was mentioned, but he also said they're a bit behind.
  • He talks about seeing the ramifications of releasing Palawa Joko.
  • Sounds like some GvG changes are coming.
  • Dervish skill changes are being worked on. Trying to make it more fun to play.
  • One issue with 7 hero teams was pvp teams of 1 person and 7 heroes. Talks about 7 hero teams not hurting anyone, and how hard some WiK stuff was with henchmen. He's open to 7 hero teams, but says they're working on something new involving heroes.
  • There are new items in the works.
  • There will be new consumables.
  • Like to make new festivals.
  • Paragon is currently probably going to be the class focused on after Dervish.
  • Not aware of any plans as to what GW1 is going to be called after GW2 comes out. ("Guild Wars" or "Guild Wars original", etc)
  • [He would] love to add new stuff to festivals. Personal fan of Halloween.

Lots of big aspirations. Things I'd like to see:

-Dervish and Paragon update (obviously).
-7 hero team (oh my gosh, YES). Also, the "something new" on heroes - let them use 1 PvE skill that the player has unlocked . Just one.
-Revisit to Cantha as the next part of GW:B.

I'm fine with festivals being what they are now, and I don't particularly care about new consumables or items. Derv and Para updates are essential for the health and balance of the game, and 7 heroes has been on the mind of the community for a looooong while.

7 heroes...wow thought they had nixed that, but glad they are revisiting it (and may wait to finish my wik line if that is the case)
new items--maybe some of those pvp only skins?????? (or those japan/taiwan preview skins???????)
new stuff for festivals would be nice, a new quest or two especially (though they probably mean yet more costumes )

still happy to hear they are still planning on doing stuff ----

Seven hero play becomes more and more justified as more people have played this game to death and move on. But it allso means the permanent end of pugs.

Haha, so the reason we aren't allowed to have 7 heroes as a sole player was because of pvp teams of 1 person and 7 heroes.

Yet heroes haven't been allowed in PvP for quite some time now...

Everyone is different in there playstyle, it makes no difference as far as pugs go...I play with pugs I also love to have 7 heros and have always wished this
to be included as well.

So you see quite simply put if you wish to pug you do so if not then thats your perogative nobody forces you in what you wish to do or not in game .

Thanks for the info! I'd give me eyeteeth for 7 heroes. It may mean the end of pugs, but a decent pug is hard to come by these days anyway. Especially in older missions.

They can talk about 7 heroes but it doesn't mean they may actually let us use 7 heroes.

Awesome news! Now all we have to do is manage to deal with all the "anet lied to us because they haven't given us all the things they said they would yet" threads that this info will surely spawn. Also, way to go KJ in posting a thread that didn't beat us over the head with your jaded personal opinions!

Nice to hear they're interested in Factions and NF content, considering those continents will play as background lore in GW2. As for "new" items and consumables, I wonder what effects they could have...

Not necessarily they could keep henchmen alive by giving more bonuses for completing missions with them vs heroes. if you use heroes you only get the standard rewards. If you use henchies you get x2 or x3. Yeah that would work.

In fact this would have been great incentive for pugging to give x4 bonus for a group of 8 human players.

As someone who enjoys playing for loot content vs exp or some silly HOM feature I hope they add some items different from what we have now like an IAS item with +15% combat speed increase as in a haste item. Items that add more hit points or more energy vs the standards we have now. Everything is the same in stats I want some variety and put in hard to get to places so it will be expensive and valueable.
